We are in Amsterdam about to get on our last flight. It is bittersweet!  

The Long Journey Home

We had a great last day in Zanzibar!  We finally got the hang of relaxing!🤣  At dinner last night we realized that we have had every single meal together for 3 weeks!  What a blessing!

We are currently at the airport in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. We have been here for almost 7 hours (as part of a 12 hour layover) and Christmas music has been playing on a loop the entire time!!

Our long journey home should take about 48 hours if all goes well!

Grand Finale!!!

Today is the last real day of our big adventure. 😩Tomorrow we start the 48 hour long journey home! 

This morning we went, snorkeling, to a sandbar and to a starfish bed. Seeing the starfish in their natural habitat was beyond incredible!! We had no idea that starfish are not squishy, and that they come in every possible color combination!

 Ethan is not a big fan of snorkeling, so he elected to stay behind to work on some of his personal computer projects. 

We are grateful for every single moment of this trip and especially for special time together.  🖤💚 Thank you, Tanzania, for showing us new cultures, and unforgettable scenery!

Learning to Relax

We aren’t very good at relaxing but we are learning how!  We are in a remote part of the island and going anywhere or doing pretty much anything requires a long, complicated and expensive taxi ride. So we are spending a lot of time resting, reading and talking. It is wonderful!

Rest, sweet rest!

We have been constantly on the go for two weeks. We aren’t very good at relaxing but we are trying to rest, recover and rejuvenate in Zanzibar. 

While we were in safari we kept thinking sbout how it was like seeing the movie Lion King but in real life. So last night (since our bungalow is a blazing sauna) we watched the movie on the beach.

Our room is four million degrees and all the faucets are salt water but the breeze and the view are amazing!

Happy New Year!

We rang in 2023 with Brett and Christie Harrison in Arusha. Brett is from our church in Dothan and they have served as missionaries in Tanzania for 14 years. Their ministry is now in transition and Brett toured us around their beautiful demonstration farm. We worshipped this morning and praised God from whom all blessings flow!! 

We are now in Zanzibar after almost missing our flight and a very eventful taxi ride!  We arrived at our hotel after dark and are looking forward to seeing the beach tomorrow!
