Home at Last

One last breakfast on the Lanai

Tight Squeeze!

Saturday mid-day traffic...sometimes you have to go somewhere else to appreciate what you have at home.

Honolulu Airport

40 min layover in Seattle which sounds rushed but was just about perfect.

You know you've been flying a lot when this seems like a "short flight!"

Freezing to death waiting on the shuttle in Atlanta.  24 Degrees!  Uncivilized!!

The bags all made it!  Yeah!

A Quick Tour of Oahu

We arrived in Honolulu at 7AM local time but we were too knackered (British/Aussie for exhausted) after our overnight from Sydney to do much.  We took a big nap and headed out at 4 in the afternoon.

Punchbowl (National Cemetery of the Pacific) was our first stop.  This beautiful place is nestled in the cone of an extinct volcano.  There are amazing views of the city and it's the resting place of veterans from WWII and onwards, which is some interesting history.  It's easy to get to, if you ever come here you should take it in.

This tree's about to overtake the adjacent marker!

Then we headed back to Waikiki, just in time for dinner and sunset:

View from the Restaurant

It really is in Paradise!

The next day we were up early and headed to Pearl Harbor.

After that we headed inland to the Dole Plantation...where it all started ~100 years ago.

Working our way through the Hibiscus Maze

That's a pineapple split:  three cones of pineapple yogurt on fresh pineapple in a cut up pineapple skin....'Merica!

We're not sure what these are but we like them...

More Botanical Gardens!!

Feral Chicken--lots of these in Hawai'i

After that we explored a small portion of the North Shore.   Our plan was to circumnavigate the island ('cause that's the sort of thing we do!), but traffic was horrendous and we found a new route.

We guess Logan was tired...

Through the H-3 tunnel

for real rainforest here

Leaves as big as your head!

IHOP--an All-American favorite!
Tomorrow we are headed home...and everyone is ready to be there!
